For supported vehicles, a replacement key can often be made where the car sits underground, provided the technician can reach it.
Your car is on P3. Your keys are somewhere else. The gate needs a fob, your phone has one bar, and suddenly a simple parking space feels surprisingly complicated.
A replacement car key may still be possible right where the vehicle sits. The important questions are whether the vehicle is supported and how the technician can reach it.
Here's what to arrange before the visit.
For supported vehicles, mobile car key replacement can be carried out at the parked car.
Being underground does not automatically mean you need a tow. It does mean the access details deserve more attention than "it's in the building."
Explain where the car is and any restrictions before a technician is dispatched.
A useful booking description sounds like this:
"The car is on P2, stall 146. The vehicle entrance is off the lane. I can meet you at the gate."
That is much more helpful than "the big tower on the corner." Vancouver has a few of those.
Have the following ready:
Our automotive locksmith team can use that information to assess the visit.
If calls drop underground, agree on a meeting point before heading back down.
A lobby entrance or another clearly identified location can save a round of missed calls. Keep your access arrangements within the building's rules.
A car key and a building fob may share a key ring, but they belong to different systems.
The locksmith can assess the vehicle-key work. Your strata or property manager handles replacement credentials for the building's gate, lobby, or elevator.
Arrange authorized access for the visit. Do not assume the technician can open the building gate.
Bring identification and vehicle ownership documents. If the paperwork is inside the locked car, explain that when booking so verification can be discussed.
Plan to meet the technician at the vehicle unless another arrangement has been confirmed.
If you have already gone home, say so. We need to coordinate the visit with someone who can provide access and authorization.
Ask for a quote based on the actual circumstances.
The key system and work required matter, and access restrictions may affect how the visit is arranged. Do not assume a parkade automatically creates a particular surcharge.
Check our pricing information and ask what the quoted total includes.
Call 604-227-9083 with the vehicle details and parkade information. For an urgent situation, check availability through our emergency locksmith service.
If the work can be scheduled, request an appointment and include the access details.
The goal is a working car key. Getting everybody to the same parking stall is the first step.
