We come to you
The technician brings tools and parts to your garage. For a lane, give the house address, the nearest cross street and which side of the lane the garage is on. Arrival is confirmed on the call.

Work, then test
We do the repair, then cycle the door, throw the lock with the door down and try every remote against the opener before we leave.

Detached garages on a lane
Lanes carry no street numbers, so a garage mid-block looks like its neighbours. Give the house address, the nearest cross street and the side of the lane, and move any car or bin from in front of the door.

Walk-in side doors and remotes
The door people get locked out of is usually the hinged walk-in beside the overhead door, not the overhead door itself. We fit the deadbolt, and pair fresh remotes and a keypad to the opener.

What to do when a garage door will not come down
Secure the opening first and find the fault in daylight.
✓Do
- Find the red manual release cord and pull it to disconnect the opener
- Bring the door down by hand if it moves freely
- Lock it with the slide lock or T-handle once it is down
✕Don't
- Force a door that has suddenly gone very heavy
- Touch the springs or cables
- Stand under a door hanging half open
A door that is heavy or dropped after a bang points at a spring. Leave it and call.

Lane, driveway and under-house garages
Where the garage sits changes the visit more than the fault does.
Lane garages
Common on the east side, where the garage is its own building at the back of the lot. The truck needs a clear run at the lane door.
Driveway garages
On the west side the garage is often attached or built under the house, off a long driveway. Say if it is down a side drive or behind a gate.
Garage plus suite
An under-house garage can sit a few steps from a basement or garden suite entrance. Tell us how many doors need work so we bring the right hardware.

Parkade gates and shared overhead doors: your strata, not us
In a strata building, the ramp and the gate at the top of it belong to the strata.

Bought a house with no garage remotes?
Nobody can say how many remotes are out there. The fix does not depend on counting them.
Clear the memory
We clear the opener so every remote it has learned stops working, then pair new remotes and a keypad.
Change the side door
The walk-in cylinder is handled in the same visit, so an old key does not still open the garage. See lock change and rekey.
01Which of the three garage services do I need?
If the door moves but nothing holds it shut, that is garage locks. If it does not move, or changes its mind halfway, that is the opener. If it grinds, drags or sits crooked on the track, that is repair. Describe the symptom when you call and we put you on the right one.
02My garage opens onto a lane. What address do I give you?
The street address of the house, the nearest cross street and which side of the lane the garage is on. Lanes have no numbers of their own. If the lane is narrow or something is parked at the door, mention it when you book.
03Who orders work on a strata parkade gate?
The strata council or the building manager. The ramp and the overhead gate are common property, and what lifts the gate is a building credential, not a garage remote. We never copy or program building fobs.
04How much does garage door work cost in Vancouver?

05A laneway house replaced our garage. Is anything left to service?
Often yes. The lane-facing door is now a dwelling entrance and wants its own deadbolt and key. Any parking pad gate and old opener remotes can be looked at in the same visit.
06Do you handle springs and panel sections?
Yes, on the garage door repair page. If the door has suddenly gone very heavy, leave it down. That points at a spring, the one part of a garage door that is dangerous to touch unaided.
