Which UBC doors are ours, and which are not?
The peninsula mixes university land, strata homes and private houses. The answer depends on who controls the door.
We are not affiliated with the University of British Columbia. Private property is ours to help with. University doors stay with the university.

The Endowment Lands
The streets around Chancellor Boulevard and Acadia Road sit outside the City of Vancouver. For us it is a normal call at a private home.
People park here for a full day, so a lost key or a locked door tends to show up late, a long way from a dealer. We come to the car. The total is confirmed on the call.

Your suite key and your fob are two separate systems. We work on the first one.
Your suite door
We open it, rekey it, change the deadbolt or cut a spare from your key. See home lockout if you are standing outside it.
Lobby, parkade and gym
These open on the building's access system, run by the strata. A lost fob is a message to your strata manager. We never copy or program building fobs.
Keys marked do not duplicate
Some suite keys are restricted and can only be cut with authorization. Show us the key or a photo, and we will say which kind you have. See key cutting.

A lost car key after a long day on campus
The key goes missing somewhere between a lecture, a library and a parkade. We cut and program a replacement at the car, so there is no tow to a dealership.
We ask for ID and proof the car is yours before cutting anything. Give us the year, make and model on the call.
A suite rekeyed after a housemate leaves
When a roommate moves out and the key does not come back, a rekey is the fix. The same hardware stays on the door, the pins change, and the old key stops working.
Owners with a few suites can have them done in one visit, keyed alike or kept separate.
Student rentals and turnover
Tenancies near campus change on the academic calendar, and shared suites change hands quietly mid-term.
Landlords
Rekey between tenants so every old key stops working. It keeps the hardware, so it is usually the cheaper option. The price for your doors is confirmed on the call.

Ask your landlord before changing a rental lock. If you are locked out, we can still open the door once you show you live there.

01I am locked out of my UBC residence room. Can you open it?
No. Residence rooms and campus buildings run on the university's own key and card systems. Call UBC Student Housing for a residence, or UBC Building Operations for an academic building.
02I lost my car key on campus. Can you make one at the car?
For most makes, yes. We cut and program it at the vehicle after checking ID and proof of ownership. The total is confirmed on the call.
03Do you cover the University Endowment Lands?
Yes. They sit outside the City of Vancouver, but the houses there are private homes and we work on them like any other address.
04Can you copy my Hampton Place fob?
No. Fobs belong to the strata, and replacements come from the strata or its contractor. We never copy or program them. We can work on your own suite door.
05Can you cut a spare for my Wesbrook Village suite?
Usually, from your existing key. A restricted key marked do not duplicate needs authorization first. Show us the key and we will say which kind it is.
06I rent out two suites near campus. Can you rekey both between tenants?
Yes, in one visit. Tell us how many doors and cylinders, and the total is confirmed on the call.
